A faith that endures.

A voice that stirred hearts.

“Though dead, yet he still speaks…” (Hebrews 11:4)

This website is dedicated to the memory of Dave Busby—a man who walked through life’s deepest challenges with unshakable faith and a heart overflowing with hope. Through his words and ministry, he shared God’s love and grace with thousands, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire and uplift hearts today.

About Dave...

Dave Busby was a powerful speaker, teacher, and servant of God. Born in 1950 and diagnosed with polio as a child, later facing cystic fibrosis and other health challenges, Dave did not allow suffering define him. Instead, he allowed it to shape a ministry built on honesty, brokenness, and unshakable faith.

His messages—delivered with both intensity and humility—touched thousands, especially young people. Speaking at major events like Passion and youth conferences, Dave challenged listeners to live with purpose, surrender, and compassion.

Though he died in 1997, Dave’s message lives on through his recorded teachings and the countless lives he influenced.

Cut to the Core 1, 2 & 3

This final series is the culmination of Dave’s life’s message – trust God, He is good, He is right, His grace will take you through. It explores the essentials of faith in God when the distractions of life are stripped away. It is the last word from one whose life was well lived and completely given to God.

Restoring Your Spiritual Passion - Part 1 & 2

There is no greater challenge and call than to be a Christian – fully alive, fully engaged. When we cease to be affected we become ineffective. This series has been used as a tool to ignite the spiritual passion in pastor and youth workers. It will fuel the flame in your heart as well.

Oh Taste and See 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

This series is designed to move us from the exposure of Christ to the experience of Christ. Talking about it is different than tasting it. And once you taste the love of God, you will see that He is good. This touch from God will change your perspective and allow you to rest in Him.

Tributes

Louie Giglio
"Some voices only come along once in a lifetime, clear and fearless reminders of the awesome and extravagant God who invites us into His embrace. One such voice belonged to Dave Busby, powerful in life and seemingly irreplaceable in death. As someone who has been both stunned by the way God speaks through him and privileged to call him a friend, I can say without reservation that your life will be rocked and reshaped (in the very best way!) by the resources that are available here. You've probably never heard anyone quite like him and fortunately, through these resources, you still can."
Barry St. Clair [GenImpact]
“I wish Dave Busby could have spoken to every student and youth leader in America before he died. He appealed to an honest look at my heart every time I heard him speak. His voice lives on. Don’t miss what God will say to you through Dave.”
Randy Hall [President, Student Life]
“Dave delivered truth with every word he spoke…we miss having Dave at our camp every summer. Thank goodness we still have his voice!”
Neil McClendon [Lead Pastor, Grand Parkway Baptist Church]
"The compression of Dave's life continues to propel countless people towards more authentic thinking, living, preaching and being. I know of no one who heard him preach, ate a meal with him or conversed with him who didn't walk away profoundly stained by his relentlessly authentic pursuit of God. In a ministry world full of chihuahua's Dave was a Saint Bernard; weighty, resonant and able to rescue from the religious stupor that lays heavy on our land."
Mike Curry [President, Light Ministries]
"I have never known a man like Dave Busby. His passion for intimacy with the Father, his love for His Word, his unparalleled zeal in preaching and teaching that word were a model for me and hundreds of other preachers. The pressures of his disease and the daily dependency that his physical battle brought, squeezed the life of Jesus through the pores of this "God-vessel" named Dave Busby. I knew Dave "warts and all". Saw him on and off the platform. Saw him full of faith......saw him struggling to continue in that faith. The single greatest thing I can say about Dave was......he was real. A real lover of Jesus. A real lover of his family. A real lover of his friends. And a real lover of the ministry he was entrusted with. Dave is gone. His teachings and influence are not. Avail yourself to Dave's teaching in written or spoken word. Stand close to the flame that burned in him and warm your heart and soul. But be warned! You can't walk and reason with Dave and remain unchanged. The Spirit will wreck you and then rebuild you through this man."

What Dave Said

JOURNAL ENTRIES

“My hope in the Christian life is not in trying hard but in depending more on what Jesus can do through me. I want to nestle more and wrestle less!” – March 14, 1987

“Jesus knows that the strength of the flesh will at times make us do what both He and we know is not in our hearts to do.  For that, there is forgiveness and a chance to start fresh every day.  I’m done beating myself up and  I’m done letting the enemy beat me up.” – April 5, 1990

“Could it truly be, Father, that by your sovereign grace and mercy you’ve gifted me more than many by giving me thorns and difficulties?  I’m blessed to experience your intimate, manifested presence and power.  David said it best: ‘…a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere…’ Good math tells me one month in your active, intimate presence is more than ninety years.  Then I’ve lived many lifetimes and you’ve blessed me abundantly.” – January 1, 1991

“I want to gaze at God and glance at my problems.” – November 22, 1989

“Your grace is all I cling to.  As David said, ‘Have mercy on me, deliver me, heal me, restore me.’  I know the flesh, world, and the devil will not quit fighting until I leave this planet.  But please strengthen my hands for war.  With your righteousness, your truth, your peace, given by your performance, I can stand.  I want in my heart of hearts to be YOURS and YOURS alone.” – April 4, 1990

“Difficult days…a nation at war, a recession in the economy, flu in the house and in the body, cold weather outside, busy schedules…the list goes on.  These are the times that are most conducive for your sweet, refreshing presence.  A joy, a peace, a contentment regardless of circumstances.  I turn to You, oh God, my rock.  You are my hope in  despair, my security in instability, my spring in winter, my peace in war, my joy in sickness.  Energize me to endure with joy!” – January 30, 1991

QUOTES

“Pay more attention to the lights on the dashboard of your life than the dashboard of your car.  Changing the oil in your car is far less important than changing the attitude in your heart. A compromised life is just the light on the dashboard that indicates a problem in the engine room.”

“Drawing life from another human being instead of God is like having two ticks and no dog.  Sooner or later, that well will run dry.”

“If I have discovered anything about Christianity, it’s that Christianity is about what is happening on the inside.  If you allow God to take care of what’s inside, the outside will take care of itself.”

“In spite of the bad rap this little word receives, “repentance” is a wonderful word.  It simply means to say “goodbye” to false gods and “hello” to Jesus.  It’s the way life is restored and our hearts are recovered again.  Repentance changes our hearts about who is going to be the source of our lives.”

“Here’s a welcome word for you.  Jesus is not hiding in the shadows to shame or berate you.  Get a picture of a compassionate God, waving you towards him by saying, “Are you tired, yet?  Your plan can’t work.  I know it looked as if it could for a while, but come!  Come to me.  Bring your fatigue, frustration, all your wounds, all your guilt to me.”

“Learning the principle of receiving is the most important part of giving.”

“It is imperative that we come to Jesus every day and receive.  Salvation is wonderful but we must receive more than that.  We must be receiving His presence in every day situations:  “Hello, Jesus.  It’s me again and I need to receive a touch from your presence to make it through today!”  That is drinking from the real Fountain.”

“One of the biggest lies I ever believed in my life was this:  the key to the Christian life is to try harder.  It’s an oxymoron to join self-effort with faith walking.  There is no such thing.  That’s like trying to mix oil and water.”

“You may be surprised at what a good candidate you are to impact the lives of others.  If you’re normal, you’re just right!”

“The more we go to Jesus as a lifestyle, the more we discover that He will fill us up with His presence to the point of overflowing.  The more we receive and depend, the more we will spill over.”
